(Simple Carbohydrates Vs. Complex Carbohydrates)

Sugar or glucose is needed for our bodies energy requirements. Fruit and vegetables, or complex carbohydrates, come in a package wrapped in fiber along with minerals and vitamins, so our bodies actually burn energy through the digestive process to access the glucose (sugar) within. Processed or simple carbohydrates- which break down into sugar in our bodies once digested (breads, pasta, chips, candy, tortillas, etc), do not come in a package of fiber, instead they usually come with the addition of saturated fats and an abundance of sodium. These are the sugars that need to be limited, NOT the complex carbohydrate found in nature.
